The following announcement appeared in an East-West Bus Line company memorandum:
“Beginning on June 1, the East-West Bus Company will no longer run buses on any of its interstate routes on Saturdays and Sundays. A survey of
the riders on the Boston-New York route taken over a ten-day period in
November showed that more than 95% of the passengers do not use the
buses on weekends. This reduction in the schedule will allow the company
to continue to increase its return to stockholders with a minimum of inconvenience
to the bus-riding public.”
